Openings
A well-installed window keeps drafts out, moisture out, and energy bills manageable. A poorly installed one does the opposite — for years.
Installation & Replacement
"The window itself is only part of the job. The installation determines how long it performs."
Most window and door failures aren't product failures — they're installation failures. Improper shimming that lets the unit rack. Missing or wrong flashing that lets water into the wall assembly. Foam sealant used where backer rod and caulk belong. These are the details that separate a 20-year installation from one that leaks in year three.
Gerhard & Sons installs windows and doors on new construction and as replacements on existing homes. We flash correctly, shim properly, and leave every opening weathertight, square, and operating smoothly.
What's Included
New construction and replacement windows — double-hung, casement, sliding, awning, picture, and bay configurations. Properly shimmed, leveled, and flashed at the rough opening before the unit goes in.
Entry doors, storm doors, and interior passage doors. Prehung units set plumb and square with proper threshold sealing, weatherstripping, and hardware alignment that holds up over years of use.
Patio door installation with full sill pan flashing and proper integration with the wall assembly. Sliding and swinging configurations, correctly supported so they operate smoothly for the long term.
The piece most installers shortcut. We use the correct flashing sequence at every opening — sill pan, jamb tape, and head flashing — so water that gets behind the cladding drains out, not in.
